Pathway to a Canadian High School

Pathway to a Canadian high school through Stewart College in Victoria, BC, Canada

Succeed and Excel in Canadian High School

Whether you are interested in studying at a Canadian high school for a semester or graduating with the BC Dogwood Certificate, we can support the process and give you the best chance of success.

For 15 years, Stewart College has worked with Victoria and area school districts on behalf of our international students. We place students in more than 30 excellent schools in Victoria, Saanich or Sooke. Each has its special strengths and character: we take care to match each student with the school that provides the best overall experience for them.

We also represent two independent schools in Victoria, Glenlyon Norfolk School (for boys and girls) and St. Margaret’s School (for girls).

Support for high school students, peace of mind for parents

Living and studying in Canada is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for your son or daughter, and you want to know your teenager is in the best care. Our Teen Support Program ensures your teenager is safe and well-cared for and that they’re doing well at school and in homestay.

We keep you up to date with your son or daughter’s progress while they study at a Canadian middle or high school in Victoria, BC, Canada. Namiko, our dedicated support person, keeps in touch with your child, their host family and their school, and reports back to you regularly.

With a minimum three month registration, the program includes:

  • High school selection and registration (if required),
  • Custodianship, and
  • Year-round support for parents and teen:
    • Orientation to Victoria, homestay and Stewart College
    • Class reports, transcripts and school updates
    • Assistance finding hobbies, clubs and extra-curricular activities
    • Identification of study issues and scheduling of tutoring if needed

Homestay Program

We match your son or daughter with carefully selected Canadian families who can provide a safe, comfortable and supportive home-away-from-home. Homestay can be arranged for as short as two weeks, or for long term placements while students go to high school. We have our own full-time homestay coordinator and all families have been carefully screened before being included in our program. Visit our Homestay Program page for more information.

Custodianship

Students under 17 years old must have a custodian or guardian while in Canada. This is someone who can sign on the parents’ behalf to give the student permission to do certain activities or to attend excursions. The custodian is also legally responsible for the student and is called on in emergency situations.

For a monthly fee, the owners of Stewart College act as personal Custodians for students attending our school or placed by us in a high school. See our Pricing page for more information.
